The construction of "The Circle and the Square" as two concurrent cartoon sequences is intended to
represent the parallel but tragically divergent perspectives of each of the two characters. The cartoon inside the square represents what the square sees and/or thinks - to him, the circle is never revealed. The same idea applies to the cartoon inside the circle.
After the square is killed outside, the circle's internal battle continues on.
