My MSc thesis was a cross-country statistical analysis into the effects of war on developing countries. The research looked at countries that have experienced severe casualties due to conflict in the period 1970-1990, with more detailed analysis of Sub-Saharan Africa. The three-gap model was used as a theoretical framework to analyse the expected effects of war, and these predictions were tested empirically. The relationship between low income and war was examined. I presented my thesis at the World Congress on Violence and Human Coexistence, August 17-21 1997, University College Dublin
